Anakku ilhamku. (Translated)

Saya memanggilnya UJEY.

Dia sungguh bijak. Petah bercakap dan bijak berfikir. Ketika dia mula saja bercakap suami saya menyuruh saya membacakan buku "THE LITTLE RED ENGINE" itu kepada ujey.

Saya tiada jawapan. Tetapi saya lagi pintar saya tanya dia balik tapi dia tidak mendiamkan diri malah dengan bangganya dia mengatakan b...a bunyinya bukan ba tapi biye. Dari situ saya tau anak saya memang bijak. Ya ALLAH aku berbangga dengan pemberianmu.

Saya ajar lagi dengan menggunakan cara FONETIK iaitu b bunyinya beh dan a bunyinya a (seperti a ayam) jadi bila saya tanya, ujey terus mengatakan itu adalah beh a. Termalu saya dibuatnya.

My Children, My Inspiration: Blog entry by Puan Chahaya

As for this moment I still have the time to share my tale but soon I will be busy with my centre which will be opened around April. I don’t know when I will have the time to or not to share my experience. Now, let us continue…

After a long time I taught Molin on how to read, it was the time for my eldest son to learn how to read as well. Back then he was 4 years old. His name is Muhammad…… which I got the name from watching the stories from the Holy Qur’an that was aired on TV3 back then. I called him by the nickname UJEY.

When he was still in the womb my husband liked to talk to him and I read the ‘LITTLE RED ENGINE’ to him. I am really happy to be married with my husband as he is a person that likes to read and he is brimmed with knowledge about children education and development. I didn’t believed what ever my husband said about children education at that time but he kept insisting me to read to my unborn baby as it is for his development. Other than the books which tells the stories of the Prophets the books that I read for my baby were the ones that kept me in company every day.

As time and months went by my baby grew bigger. Time for me to give him a name and back then I was pregnant for approximately 9 months. I chose 2 names, one is MUHAMMAD NUR IMAN and the other is MUHAMMAD…… Quite a dilemma. Which one should I choose? Every day I kept bothering my husband on which name should I choose for my son. He said that it was a trivial matter and why not asking my son to choose it? Nonsense I say, for ordering a baby inside a womb to make a choice. Is he for real? He kept insisting that our son to choose it since it’s his right to do so. I was stunned. Then he told me to lie down and to commence with the ‘Operation’. He talked to the son and told him that if he liked the name he should turn right as a signal and the question was asked repeatedly as a conformation, all of them have the same results; He chose the name MUHAMMAD……

This son of mine is a bit different and unique. He’quite smart. Quite eloquent in speech and intelligent in thinking too. When he’s first able to talk my husband told me to read the ‘LITTLE RED ENGINE’ to UJEY and to my surprise, the baby which aged around 8 months were able to enunciate every word which was in the book which was written in English non-stop until the end without leaving any single word behind at all.

It struck me that my son is probably a bit too ‘special’ in terms of intelligence. Sharp-minded child. When he was a baby his thoughts were of 6 years old children and when he was 12 he processes like an 18 year old as per what the Doctor said when we do a diagnosis on him back then.

Then it was the time for UJEY to learn how to read. Me and my husband tried our best to teach him the conventional way. When I taught him so he once expressed as to why b..a combined together made the sound ‘ba’, not any other kind of sound. I had no answer for that. But I was smarter so I asked him back but he didn’t kept quiet about it and inferred, with pride that the combination of b..a does not produce ‘ba’ but ‘bi-ae’ as per the phonological sound of the letters. From then I knew he’s definitely smart, thank the Almighty for his blessing and generosity.

I taught him again using the phonetic-style of teaching in which b and a pronounced respectively so (b as beh and a as ae) and when I asked UJEY to say it, he quickly said so that it’s beh-ae. Puts me in shame really. I went on with the conventional and phonetic style to teach him as I actually forgotten what was the exact method I used to teach MOLIN until UJEY asked me the same thing: CAN YOU LEARN HOW TO READ WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IS ABC? And it struck me; Dear God, how can I forget that? With haste I re-wrote what I created before when it was used to teach MOLIN. With His will my son was able to read comicbooks and newspapers when I introduce him 6 sounds of vowels and the 18 ways of ‘teasing’ in just a day. After that he chucked the book that he used to learn how to read and declared that ‘UJEY CAN READ’ and the first book that he read was the syllable teaching book for 6 years old, Doraemon comicbook and newspaper. He’s smart since he can synthesize the letters he acquired and rearranged them as he sees fit to make words and later, to sentences. UJEY is really a smart child.

But I’ve yet to say at that time that this was a discovery, merely a COINCIDENCE until…… which I will continue at a later time. At that time of the discovery, was the catalyst that made the concept ‘CAHAYAKU’.
